Cars 3 is definitely the best of the three Cars films. That may not be a high bar, but it is still able to get over it.

The Cars films have always been among the weakest of the Pixar films, with Cars 2 feeling the least like a Pixar film out of their entire filmography. But Cars 3 returns to a more streamlined and simplified formula, and introduces some of the best characters in the entire franchise.

While it does not seem as though these films can ever be more than average by the standard that Pixar have set, this one still manages to deliver plenty of fun moments and enough of the Pixar charm to satisfy audiences and provide a very fine viewing experience. And there is nothing wrong with being fine.
